Senior - Kayla - Boyce Thompson Arboretum
Senior – Kayla – Boyce Thompson Arboretum
So you are going to start seeing a trend here, I love to push locations I’m dying to shoot at on unsuspecting people. Luckily for me Kayla was willing to play along! Her father does landscape design – at least that was my excuse to set Kayla in the nursery . . . because her parents have nurtured her to full bloom – haha cheesy puns are always allowed on the blog!!
and the Arboretum has the coolest vintage truck! Kayla’s grandpa has one just like it – way back in my early shooting days we shot a family photo gathered around it! The roses in the last photos – they were not there two weeks prior but bloomed just for her – recognizing an absolutely beauty and sweet spirit!!
She also showed up with like 30 books and 7 jerseys?? Umm no we are not hauling all that around this park was my first thought! It would take me hours to photograph that much accomplishment! We’ll just have to showcase it in a few ways! Don’t let all the pretty photos fool you – this girl has some grit! She played almost every sport, earned her letter, was Team Captain and Homecoming Queen, and kept her nose to the books to pull off some great grades! (I sometime have issues shooting seniors – I’m like what exactly was I doing at 17?? I don’t even have that much accomplishment at 42!!) Kudos to Kayla for all her hard work and success!! She is headed to Grand Canyon University to pursue a degree in Secondary Education!

Lovely blog and photos about a lovely young lady. So proud of Kayla. Her spirit, her life and her accomplishments. She’s going to make a great Lit Professor one day. I still remember mine. As a side note…Joanne, you truly have a vision of each of your subjects. I don’t know if that comes from stalking them, researching them or just using the beautiful gift that God has given you. Keep up the great work.
Thank you! It helps that I’m photographing people I’ve know for years! If I can capture a bit of the personality of each – that’s my goal! and thinking back my Lit teachers were always my favorite and I’m sure Kayla will be someone’s favorite as well!
