Friend Mini Session - Joanna Joy Photography

Elizabeth and Raquel – Friend Mini Session – Tucson AZ

Just started doing these Friend Mini Sessions in addition to Senior Photos this spring and they are lots of fun!  Often Seniors will bring Mom or a sibling to their session, I love the idea of celebrating the friendships that defined your school years!

I love that quote “I don’t need any more friends, I have 2.” That was me in high school!  Lily and Naomi.  oh yes and Mandy.  She was my PE ditch buddy but now she does cross fit so I disowned her haha not really but yes I was SHOCKED!  we always preferred art class to PE – back in the day PE was mandatory even in high school.  I tell my boys I was always volunteered to be goalie for field hockey, soccer, or broomball because it required no running.  And eventually I was not sucky at it. sort of.  So kudos to Mandy on her cross fit journey – I really am proud of her!  Elizabeth and Raquel have a similar friendship – one sporty and one a bookworm.  Common interests and plain ol friendship overcome all differences!

Each friendship is different and adds to each part of your life’s journey.  Lily has been with me through lots of ups and downs – she stood by my side when I gave my first baby a bath – I was scared the little chubbers would slip out of my hands!  She’s also gone scouting with me for photo locations.  This includes disturbing homeless people sleeping in the bushes – beware Rio Vista Riparian Preserve!  Those pretty sunflowers by the water might be camouflaging something more!  Though we are separated now by the ENTIRE country – we feel just as close as we ever did!  Take a peek at her blog post featuring her oh so wonderful Buster and gorgeous new home!

This photo session was shot in Downtown Tucson – so many colorful murals near 4th AVE and yummy food smells!  I snuck back a few days later to spend time in the Book Shop on 4th – that old book smell and finding that out of print favorite.  so perfect.
