Wedding Planning for Summer Weddings
How to Plan a Wedding for the Heat
Do you know what makes a wedding memorable? Being miserable. That makes a wedding very memorable! Not exactly the effect you are going for when planning this gorgeous event! Think about what makes almost everyone universally miserable. Heat. Arizona heat. 100 plus degree heat. You can plan a summer wedding at an indoor venue but in Arizona sneaky hot weather can happen anytime. A day in October or April can be hit with high temperatures. Also mid west family flying in can feel overheated even on a “cool” 80 degree day. How to avoid sweaty uncomfortable guests??
Wedding Planning Tips for Arizona Brides
Don’t just serve refreshments during cocktail hour! Family and friends will be waiting around the venue before the ceremony, sometimes considerably before ceremony start time – taking photos or helping set up and prepare. Resorts and similar venues will have bars or restaurants so guests can get drinks but other types of outdoor venues might only plan for a scheduled cocktail hour and drinks during the reception. Talk to the venue coordinator to have ice water available throughout your time there – not just for the bridal couple but for early arriving guests as well. If they are unable to accommodate, have a close friend or family member make this happen. I speak from experience – I’ve seen this happen, I’ve felt this misery, I’ve watched guests and bridal party wilt during the pre-ceremony time. Some gorgeous outdoor venues (farms, gardens, etc) only have an indoor prep area for the bride. The groom, his men, in their formal hot suits, are waiting around outside under trees. So is Uncle Bobby from Wisconsin. With an icy drink in their hand – your guests will thank you and love their experience!
